Happy New Year 2013! If you are going to a gala this evening, and lets face it – who isn’t?! Here is a look at what you wish you were wearing tonight- an Efrat Kalig gown!
Kalig, a leading couture designer in Israel, presented a striking, gala worthy show at Gindi TLV Fashion Week. It was full of color, structure and winding curves down and around the body in a daring work of art. The inspiration came from the designer’s trip to the “City of Light”, as a response to a painful personal loss, which resulted in a beautiful collection. The central theme was the interpretation of the “sporty look” in a sexy, daring, and innovative way for the evening.
Kalig pushed the boundaries of ‘risque’- her idea of cutouts weas taken even further (their placements were both shocking and unexpected) – and confronted new challenges in creating this collection entitled “Holes in the Heart”. The vision was brought to life with a combination of new fabrics, unique colors, and successful new sewing techniques. The end result was a stunning array of gowns, in every color of the rainbow, all beautifully form-fitting with piping details on the sides around the winding cutouts, which gave the gowns the sporty feel as well as the risque “dare to bare” element. All this was achieved while maintaining that “one of the kind” quality and feel.
