ISHTAR is a high-end fashion house located in Tel-Aviv specializing in women’s clothing. ISHTAR offers day and evening wear that is feminin, elegant and timeless. The collections draw inspiration from the gown heritage of the Middle East and the craftsmenship that was brought to the region in the beginning of the last century, as well from contemporary art and aesthetics.
Exquisite fabrics such as Damascus brocades, silk and Egyptian cotton are used in the collections and are often handled with hand prints and drawings. Selected designs combine antique elements such as old buttons, laces and embroideries that were collected throughout the years, creating unique timeless garments that tell a story.
ISHTAR fashion house designs feature garments with tactile details and superior craftsmanship. Each piece is unique and versatile and often hand-finished. The items composing the collections vary from brocade trousers, knit wear, skirts, silk blouses and tanks, and several styles of dresses.
ISHTAR fashion house is named after the ancient Mediterranean Akkadian goddess of beauty and fertility. Tamar Primak, Ishtar’s designer, gives her own interpretation to the goddess of small details. In her garments she offers a daring design that is a model of quality, fabric and sewing. Each piece is unique and holds a romantic story of the traditional garments of the Middle East. In her designs, Primak is asking to grant women comfortable outfits with a personal statement, deriving from the perception that garments are decorations of the body, and as such they should accompany it, and leave room for the unique personality of each woman.
About the designer: Tamar Primak is a Jerusalem born highly accomplished designer, graduate of the Shenkar Design and Textile Academy. Primak worked as a designer for Mark’s & Spencer’s men’s tailoring collection in London. Later on she worked as a top in-house designer for Schumacher Fashion House, Germany. She excelled as the designer of the silk and precious material gowns and as a key assistant to the head designer. She launched her own fashion house ISHTAR in Israel in 2008.
