Whether or not you keep up with the news in Israel, you have probably heard about the multitude of issues that constantly rise up concerning the ultra religious sect here. The most recent of these being the unfortunate and degrading demotion of women on public transpiration; women are constricted to entering and sitting at the back of the bus in the ultra religious areas of Israel. If a woman does not abide by this rule, there are unpleasant consequences. This reminds us of the type of segregation that was abolished back in the 60’s, by the civil rights movement in the USA (not a pleasant comparison). The fortunate thing is that it’s 2012, which means that it won’t be decades before people will protest against these sanctions. In fact, people and the media are speaking out about this now.

Whitney Houston- A tribute to a stylish icon
We were all shocked to hear the news of the death of music and fashion icon, Whitney Houston. We at Dreed*Tea wanted to do a tribute to her here to show her ever-changing style through her years in the spotlight.

From her start in the 80′s she burst onto the scene with her amazing voice and sparkling smile to boot. It had been awhile since the world had heard a fresh new voice like hers not to mention the range that she had was unheard of at the time and especially in a beauty so young.

Antwerp is a Girl’s Best Friend
Antwerp Fashion History
Not only is Antwerp Europe’s diamond-cutting capital, it is also a hub of cutting edge fashion. It all began in the 1980s when the Minister of Economic Business, Willy Claes, decided to support the textile industry by giving financial help to small local companies. Fashion shows and contests gave local designers a platform to compete with large international designer companies. This allowed for the rise and shine of the Antwerp Six, a group of fashion designers comprised of Dirk Bikkembergs, Ann Demeulemeester, Dries Van Noten, Dirk Van Saene, Walter Van Beirendonck et Marina Yee.
Fashion- Not just for The Skinny Wench
Tired of looking up and seeing your local billboards filled with pix of anorexic little waifs? Pictures that are supposed to represent all womankind? Yet when you look around, how often do you see the resident heroin-chic, supermodel giraffe stepping her way down the streets? Or better yet, how often do you see them in large groups? At work? Restaurants? The grocery store? Our point is that you don’t.
Cassidi Boutique- I’ll tell you what I want, what I really really want!
When the Cassidi Boutique Winter look book photos came across my desk, I was conflicted to share it on Dreed*Tea. The appeal factor of these photos are spot on– thanks to the colors, on trend styling, and twin models theme. At the same time, many things about these looks are spot off for me! In fact, dare I say it? I think this look book represents a lot of fashion faux pas big chains in Israel are making (yup, I dared done said it!).
Leggings are not pants!
I would never wear leggings as pants with a tight cardigan, though I see many women go like this– poor things, they didn’t get the memo: Leggings are not pants!
Israeli Fashion- an Anthropological view
The following is written by Dreed*Tea’s latest addition to the team- Lillou Shalev from The Zig Zag Girl.
For the longest time I insisted there’s no such thing as Israeli fashion. Unless you’re prepared to call no style at all (or at best some borrowed idioms) “fashion”. It was pretty much like food; we Israelis took ownership of hummus and falafel, when in fact they originate in the Middle East.
